Solid Timbers
CM Furniture Design pride themselves as specialists with exotic timbers. Hardwood timbers have played a major part in the look and feel of quality pieces of furniture for centuries and finding the right timber species for your space can be daunting.
Have your piece finished in one of the sustainably grown hardwoods sourced from a wide variety of local, Australian and international species. Timber naturally varies in colour and grain structure, which brings a unique tone, texture and feel to each and every piece we make. Colour matching services are available if our standard stains do not suit.
In some instances, it is commonplace to include a veneer of the same species into a project. Veneers are inherently more stable under differing atmospheric conditions and are commonly used in backing boards, some vertical panels and doors. Speak to one of our designers about your specific requirements and we can find a balance between your needs, structural stability or budget.
Timber Veneers
Sometimes the design calls for a hard wearing, stable and stylish material and the specialists at CM Furniture Design may recommend one of the many Natural or Engineered timber veneers.
Natural Timber Veneers have all the charm, colour variation and natural beauty of a Solid Timber, while maintaining its stability as the temperature and humidity varies throughout the year.
Designed Timber Veneers take the concept of timber and take it a step further. Designed Timber Veneers are still a natural product taken from sustainably grown plantations however, the species of tree naturally has a very low contrast grain. The grain and colour is then printed onto the natural veneer to achieve a very consistent colour.

Timber Stains
Need to further enhance the natural beauty of your hardwood? CM Furniture Design offers a wide variety of stain options to help your furniture tie in with your existing decor. Select from one of our standard finishes, or have a custom stain professionally made to match your existing furniture.
Most hardwoods take a stain well, however we recommend using Tasmanian Oak/ Victorian Ash, as sometimes the colour of the piece is more important than the species of timber. This way you’ll save money and still get the perfect look you’re after.
